This was the 40th Birthday of the Austerfield Study Centre, a good reason to celebrate. Sadly the council is having to close it to save on its budget, and this is scheduled for 18.7.13. But, happily the council has agreed to allow it to continue as a Social Enterprise the very next day, run by Sue from the Mosaic Trust and volunteers from the village.

The party was attended by friends and villagers who had come forward in droves as volunteers to support the Centre, and past teachers too, Caitlin and Jade and Glenys and Andrew among them. Lots of new friends were made too.
The field was filled with stalls, a barbecue run by Tony of the Ship Inn at the other end of the village, a bouncy castle for the children, food and buns and cake stalls, an ice cream van, the police were there being friendly, and lots of others too. We had both domes manned and tracking the Sun in white and Hydrogen Alpha light, and both were kept busy with a steady stream of folk wanting to look round and look at the Sun. The Sun was seen quite frequently between clouds, and put on a good show.
Our team was Peter, Dave and Lesley, Vic and Sandra. We also had some of the Doncaster Movie Makers members taking videos for the video they're making for us.
A good day indeed. Photos by Peter Smith.

Getting ready. The sky improved later.

I think she was impressed by what she saw.
